Candy Samples' career is one of wonder and mystery. Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Ms. Samples was crowned Miss Pool Slut 1995 from P.S. We Care. While in Atlanta, Candy also had the pleasure of performing with The Atlanta Gay Mens Chorus and Dad’s Garage Theatre.
An accomplished singer and songwriter, Candy has just released a brand new single, “Sweet Scandal” (August 23, 2011 Sweet Tune Records) which is available on iTunes and Amazon.com. Co-written and produced by her, Alan Parker and Jesse Sklar, Samples takes on the fascination with celebrity and political hijinks, all while keepin’ a snappy beat and her signature humor.
This chanteuse from the south has released two EP’s, 2009’s Sample This! and Sample That! the following year. Whether a swinging dance club beat with “Boy Crazy” and “If I Had Only Left (Two Shots Earlier)” or a little down-home country, “Green Bean Casserole”, Candy’s got the recipe to satisfy!
A believer in using your ‘Powers For Good’, Candy is a huge supporter of Marriage Equality NY, Camp Starlight and Food for Friends. She always encourages her audiences to do the same, and reach out within their own communities.
Candy has a long-running podcast, “The Candy Show”, now in it’s fifth year on iTunes, where she dishes the dirt with local artists and others doing their part to make the world a better place --- all while throwing in a recipe or two.
Ms. Samples is pleased as punch to be performing her Sunday Services at Michael’s on the Park (834 N. Rampart St. / New Orleans) on September 4 from 11:30AM - 1:30PM as part of the Southern Decadence celebration. All proceeds from the show will go to Food For Friends / NO AIDS Task Force.
